Training Schedule - Additional Info

This program is jointly sponsored by Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Office of Communications and Community Engagement and The Francine and Herbert Tobin Foundation. The Listeners/Oyentes Program® has been servicing students by providing them with special one-on-one attention since 1972.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer Listener/Oyente must register and attend one of the training sessions listed below.  Once the training has been completed, the volunteer selects a school that is geographically convenient for the weekly listening sessions.  The Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Volunteer Program conducts a fingerprint background check for all Level 2 volunteers.  Listeners/Oyentes are considered Level 2 volunteers, and require a fingerprint background check before becoming a Listener/Oyente volunteer

TO REGISTER, PLEASE CALL MS. FRANCINE TOBIN, CHAIRPERSON OF THE LISTENERS/OYENTES PROGRAM® AT (305) 935 0045 OR EMAIL: info@listenersprogram.org

In addition to attending a 3½ -hour training, volunteer Listeners/Oyentes must attend a minimum of 4on-going training and monitoring virtual workshops per school year in order to remain as an active Listener/Oyente (these workshops are offered twice monthly throughout the school year).  A separate schedule of the monthly on-going training and monitoring workshops will be distributed at the initial training sessions.

If you have any questions, please call (305) 935-0045 or send email to info@listenersprogram.org.

The Listeners/Oyentes Program® Training will not take place as scheduled when schools are closed due to inclement weather.
